I Measure Trolls
From the Bottom of their Feet to the Highest "RUBBER/PLASTIC" Point (Tips of Ears or the Top of Forehead)!
Any Scratches, Cracks or other Things (THAT ARE BEYOND NORMAL PLAY OR WEAR AND TEAR) that might lower the value of a Troll will be mentioned in the Description! CHILDREN FREQUENTLY WROTE THEIR INITIALS ON TROLL'S FEET SO I DON'T COUNT THAT AS A FLAW!

HE WORKS VERY HARD AT MAKING THEM AS TRUE TO COLOR AND NEAT AS POSSIBLE AND THIS TROLL IS VERY COOL!
This is A 7.5" Tall DAM Sitting Teddy Bear Coin Bank with Pretty Brown Airbrushing and Black Detailing such as the bottoms of her paws being blackish as are the outer ears, eyebrows, nose, freckles and tail. Her tummy has some white airbrushing and also some can be found inside the ears. Her Eyes are painted Black and White and on the back it says "R Land bobanken" in White - I assume that was the name of the "grownup" bank who commissioned the troll banks from DAM. Although this bank is not marked "DAM" or the year of manufacture "1984 - at least most probably as the others were made then", she is quite obviously a DAM product although the eyes are more like RDI or RDF eyes. The Coin Plug says "Hornsyld, Denmark dhp" and the interesting thing is that no matter the surety of the manufacture, the coin plug "guy" was very busy as he seemed to  have made all of them!
This Bear has a cute story the whole of which, I will never know (only the bear and her previous owner)!! I noticed that a (a previous child? owner decided that the bear was a she and her name should be Mathilde so it is written on her bottom! If I find childish words on the feet on trolls i.e., the little owner's name or the name she or he gave the troll, I do not even try to remove it - how would the troll and the person ever recognize each other after this many years.
And, don't laugh...if YOU, LIKE ME, are the type who bursts into tears at anything that touches you inner most being, here is a short story just for you and 100% true (that makes it more unbelievable!
I bought a box of 16 DAM trolls a couple years ago (just one photo taken down into a box of clearly fixer uppers) and won them. They took awhile to arrive and when they did, I started cleaning them and pulling out bad hair etc to restore them.
All of a sudden a Green Eyed Blonde Haired ©64 grabbed my attention and for no particular reason, I turned her over to see her feet. Before I even got her over, I knew that it was going to say "Hyaline" (A boat from the Narnia Book

in Blue Pen on the bottom of her feet.... So ...... With a very queer feeling in my tummy I started frantically turning over the trolls and sure enough I got extremely LUCKY - I think it was my DAD letting me know that he still plays trolls with me from time to time when I'm dreaming or listing or restoring!
Because (against the odds for sure) I found another Pink Eyed troll  (This one was Uncle Andrew from the Narnia Book
The Magician's Nephew
with short (my childish haircut because, back in the day, long hair was only for girls but I guess pink was OK for boys LOL - a harbinger of my personality - except I'm much more open to lifestyles of others)!
I grew up in Thousand Oaks (Southern) California and the state was practically run over by troll loving children (no Barbies for me anyway) and here these two lovely and well loved trolls found their way back to me (the seller was from San Francisco and after I contacted her, they had been in her attic for a long time and she didn't remember where she got them. Well , I didn't remember how mine went missing, but they are back, in places of prominence and have recently married!
I still get goose bumps when I tell this story so I don't do it too often!  This over 800 - and in the first 128 when the names ran out (at one time in the early 1990s)  For your reference, if you have not read the 7 books comprising the
Chronicles of Narnia
, you should. My father started reading them to me when I was about 3-4 and I have read the series for almost every year of my life ever since. I remember that, when I was about 8-9, I sat down and went fanatically (always was a list maker and always loved names and linguistics) through each book, down each page (with a ruler of course) and wrote down every single name of all of the characters (this would include Dwarves, Fawns (half man half fawn), Centaurs, Talking beasts of all sorts and, ASLAN the King of them all - the Lion). The author, C.S. Lewis, was not just a story teller but an esteemed religious scholar (my dad was a Lutheran Minister and had his PhD in Theology and Education). At any rate, All of us, my Dad, Me, My burgeoning (all named up to about #128 when I ran out and quite naming) troll collection, C.S. Lewis (in the afterlife somewhere) and, I'm sure, God as well, listened in on our story nights. They recently made an awesome Movie
Voyage of the Dawn Treader
which is one of the Narnia Books - excellent whether you know the story or not! They have also made the
The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe
and
Prince Caspian
with about 3 years between them. As there ae 4 more books (if they keep going), I will be 71 when they make the last one and maybe it will be time for the
Last Battle
(in a literal sense) - the final book in the Series.
Another small tidbit was that although we found almost all of the DAM Animals (my favorites) on a trip to Denmark in 1968, we could not find a Lion (and if you ever see a red passport with the animals' pix on it, the Lion is right out front)! I was SO disappointed, but mysteriously about 10 years later (I think on my 22nd or so birthday, I opened my present from my Dad that he gave me before bedtime as my last birthday memory and lo and behold it was a Lion in perfect condition. Lord knows, my dad had that Lion all those years but I had just graduated from college, was getting married and starting a new life which would certainly include trolls - there is a picture of mine in the pix below!
The Troll Bank Animals are a Great addition to your collection! So, try to find them all - if anyone knows for sure what "all" is!
