This is a Djura gaida bagpipe, hand made by one of the best Bulgarian bagpipe master – J. Vassilev.  Instrument is of perfect make, intended for beginner and professional musicians. The instrument's quality is guaranteed, supported also by certificate .
DJURA GAIDA is traditional Bulgarian folk instrument. It is smaller and a bit easier to play on compared with the Kaba gaida.  Djura gaida is known by its bright, sharp, penetrating sound and a high-pitched register.
The instrument we offer is in most common pitch - D (re).
Chanter, drone and blow pipe are made of cornel tree.  The wooden parts are of their natural color and have not been threatened with chemical or coloring agents. The insertion parts are made of black bakelite/  hard plastic material, decorated with metal rings that also gives more strength and stability. The bag is made of young goat skin, carefully threatened on traditional technology.

The drone pipe "ruchilo" consists of 4 parts / appropriate for professional players. If remove the second upper part, the drone plays in G.  That way if one has 2 chanters - in G and D the gaida can be played in one of the preferred pitches by removing or adding this drone part.

The instrument is just recently made. We strive to keep on stock well tuned instruments, if needs instrument will be

- Djura in D: starting from D, D flat, E, F flat, F, G, G sharp, A, A sharp, B, B flat, C, C sharp, D, E
The half tones are produced by means of the regular finger holes + the so called flea hole (the aperture at the upper end of the drain pipe.

About master:
The name of our Djura Gaida master is J. Vassilev. He is known as one of the best masters of Bulgarian traditional music instruments and he is also among the most gifted musicians in south Bulgaria.
He is born in 1945 in a family of musicians. He started playing bag pipe and kaval when he was a little child. 16 years old he made his first public appearance with an orchestra. Initially he took part in the ensemble of Sliven. Later in 1968, when the famous Philip Koutev school was founded he won the job contest and started as a Gaida and Kaval teacher, where he has been teaching some of the most famous and talented contemporary Bulgarian musicians. Meanwhile he also started making folklore instruments Kaval and Gaida under the guidance of the famous experienced old master Slavi Ivanov from the village of  Kameno. He made his first gadulka instrument as a student of Petko Denev - the most famous old Master from town of Gabrovo. The master skills and technique acquired were developed to perfection of making Bulgarian folklore instruments: gaida, kaval, all kind of traditional woodwind instruments, gadulka and tupan. He is a conductor of the Thracian orchestra more then 15 years now.
