RARE 4.47g Green Chromium Petrified Wood from Winslow Arizona

Description

This rare green petrified wood gets it’s color from chromium. Chromium is the same element that gives emeralds their beautiful green color. This petrified wood was found in an isolated location near Winslow, Arizona in the 1970’s. A very small amount was found which makes it very rare and desirable. The location is the Chinle Formation where these trees grew during the Triassic Age around 200 million years ago. Most of the green petrified wood is the species Arauacarioxylon with a small amount being Woodworthia.
