    So!
    This is how
    your
    Singer
    Imitation
    Hemstitcher works!
Loosen your sewing machines upper tension just a little. Place one fabric beneath your Singer Imitation Hemstitcher face up.
Place the second fabric (face down) over the front bar (with the needle hole) and then down and under the back bar of the attachment (black arrows).
    Stitch the two fabrics together.
When you have finished stitching, pinch the end threads before pulling the fabric out from under your Singer Imitation Hemstitcher. You do not want to pull the loose stitches tight.
    Picture below using Singer
    120687 for demonstration only.
Gently pull the two fabrics apart just enough to expose and even up the rows of loose stitches/thread.
    Press the seam allowance open.
Replace your standard presser foot, increase your sewing machine's upper tension to normal and stitch closely to the row of threads along each side. This secures the row of threads.
    And Voila!
    Lovely!

    Ready?
    The Picot Edge.
Follow the above instructions as for sewing an imitation hemstitch.
Right sides together, loosen the upper tension a little, lengthen the stitch a little and sew.
Note: For this pictorial demonstration I am using the Singer hemstitcher 28915. The instructions are the same for either Singer Imitation Hemstitcher 28915 or 120687.
Pull the seam open gently and even out the threads. Fold the seam allowance open and press.
Tighten the upper tension back to normal. Remove your Singer Imitation Hemstitcher and attach your standard Singer presser foot.
Sew, one line of stitching as close as possible to the hemstitched edge. Do not sew a second line of stitches on the other fabric edge.
This one line of stitching is anchoring the hemstitch.
Pull the bobbin thread (which will be very loose) from the second fabric (this will have been the fabric you placed on the bottom and face up under your Singer Imitation Hemstitcher at the start).
The second fabric will pull easily away from the picot loops.
    And Voila!
    Imitation Picot Edging!
